Dear John,

I couldn't face you and tell you that I am leaving you. I'm sorry to do it this way but I know you will realize this is for the best.

We have had several great years together and I loved every minute of it. But, I realize, I just cannot continue with this commitment.

It is in my best interest to fly home and continue my education. You know my long-time dream is to become a teacher.

All I am taking with me are my clothing and leaving you with all our other possessions.

Thank you Yarnspinnerr for our photo prompt this week!

This is my 98 word story for the flash fiction challenge, Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers. We are given a photo prompt that is kindly photographed by our participants and approximately 75-175 words with which to create our stories. It's fun and everyone is invited to participate. • Yes, that is true. If only everything could be so simple. It isn’t though, is it? Yes, I have been on break. I went to my granddaughter’s graduation from high school. I got to spend time with my family. It was a nice visit!

  1. Aahhh … love and all of it’s complications shortened in a Dear John note.
I think when someone is leaving there may have been signs way before the note was left.
Nicley written, PJ. Have a lovely Sunday evening ….
    Issy 😎

I would love to read your thoughts...
