FFfAW-The Treasured Gift

When my five year old son saw the Army plane hanging in the museum he was adamant that he wanted a toy plane just like that. I have never seen him want anything more than he wanted this plane.

My mission began to find a toy plane like this Army plane, and I found it wasn't an easy feat.

Finally, after becoming desperate, I went on the U.S. Army website and found that I could order a toy Army plane like the one he so adamantly wanted.

He was elated to receive this precious plane for his sixth birthday!

Thank you Yinglan for our photo prompt this week!

  1. A touching story. For what it’s worth, the plane is a BT-13 Valiant, an advanced trainer aircraft produced by Vultee for the US Army Air Force during World War II.

  2. I remember my dad running to the toy shops in search of the machine gun I wanted. Now I’m doing the same for my sons. Parents live for giving what their children want. It’s not the gift but a moment of joy. Very lovely story, PJ

  3. He’ll remember that gift πŸ™‚ My husband has his model planes hanging from a ceiling in our home. In some respects, boys never grow up..

Enjoy your vacation and your family.

  4. Your story reminds me of when my daughters wanted a certain doll one Christmas and there were none to be found. You written a feel good story. What greater pleasure is there than to be able to give your child something they really, really want. PJ … nicely told story/

  5. It’s amazing how you can write a whole story in just 99 words! Happy to hear you were able to order the exact plane your son wanted and that he was elated with it!! πŸ˜‰ xo

I would love to read your thoughts...
