FFfAW-Tree Hugger

I am an avid tree hugger. I hug them because I want to save them from the death of the loggers.

Sadly, hugging trees doesn't help save them, no matter how hard I hug.

I write letters to the editor of newspapers where the logging is taking place but it seems to do no good. Beautiful trees that have been growing for hundreds of years are being cut down.

Tomorrow, I am chaining myself to one of the trees they are going to cut down. They will have to kill me to get the tree. Maybe now they will listen!

Thank you Loretta Notto for our photo prompt this week!

  1. I like this piece, but it’s made my head hurt (which is actually a positive comment about your writing). I hate the destruction of rain forests but, as someone who considers wood to be far more beautiful than many of the other materials we use to make the things we think we need, I’ve hitherto been a supporter of sustainable production. Now I’m wondering if I’ve been taking too simplistic a view. Thank you for making me think!

  2. Love your story. Despite chains and protective laws – trees are still being cut down unnecessarily.

  3. I hope the tree hugger succeeded! You’d think we learned better after so much research and so many years of proof we need trees to live…

  4. I love 🌲. All kinds of 🌳. I have one in my backyard that creates a tremendous amount of work. But I would never consider getting rid of it just for my convenience.

  5. love the tribute and sacrifice you would make for a tree, its not something to laugh about anymore. In my own blog commenting to Michael H, I spoke of the same things that are happening in my country, a very sad situation, and the government is all for destruction and people and trees are dying, literally.

  6. Definitely a tree hugger take done extremely well. She’s right the old trees need saving, to be preserved. I know here wherever they cut, they have to replant trees. It’s good money for guys and strong girls in summers from university. A bunch of old friends helped with the tree replanting. I fear her death will not mean much to faceless corporations. Might scar some of those guts who cut down trees though. Nice write PJ.

  7. I love how dedicated your are to your cause! I think chaining yourself to the tree is an excellent idea, it will certainly get their attention and maybe it will help!! Good luck. πŸ™‚

I would love to read your thoughts...
