FFfAW – A Special Dinner

My boyfriend was coming for dinner and I was cooking for him. I wanted to make a good impression. I quickly looked over my spice cabinet to make sure I had all the ingredients that I would need to make my special dinner. Everything I needed was there.

I started cooking my speciality meal, letting it simmer for hours to spread the wonderful flavor throughout. The smell in my apartment was enticing.

With the table beautifully set, the meal cooked and ready to eat, I waited for him to knock. I waited and waited.

My spirit was crushed. I had been stood up and left with a cold meal on my hands and no one to feed.

Finally, the phone rang.

“Is it too late to come for dinner? I got tied up in traffic.”

I almost started crying.

“Of course it isn't too late! I hope you like your spaghetti cold.”

“I love cold spaghetti!”

My spirit soared. It was going to be a very good evening after all.

  1. That feeling of being stood up is so awful, what a huge relief that it had a happy ending after all! A guy who says he loves cold spaghetti — especially when it’s cold because he’s late? He’s a keeper!

  2. She probably thought that was the best tasting spaghetti she had ever made! After being so disappointed that he did not show, then getting his call, she was probably on cloud 9! This is such a wonderful uplifting story.

  3. Awwwwww… I was about to go heartbroken until she got the call! YAY!!! ❀ ❀ ❀ A very romantic take, PJ!!
And thanks for using my photo. πŸ˜€

    • LOL! I am a softie Tania, and always try to have a happy ending in my stories. Well, at least, most of them. I have been watching where you are in Germany now and hope you are enjoying your travels!

  4. This is such a cute story PJ. And very true to life. I can remember a number of times a date was late and it was for a reason which couldn’t helped such as tragic. But you’re so pumped up and looking forward to it, you’re disappointed when they’re late at first, until you realize it couldn’t be helped. Nice write πŸ™‚ 🌺🌻🍁

    • Thanks Mandi! I agree, it is such a letdown when your date doesn’t show up in time and so many things go through your mind – especially questions about yourself – – then they show up and have a good reason for being late. Such a relief!

I would love to read your thoughts...
