FFfAW – Online Dating

He saw my picture and profile on the Internet. Yes, the dating site that everyone has been talking about.

Me, I was apprehensive to get on this site. Surely I can get a man without having to announce my looking for one for all the world to see! I was so embarrassed. He saw my picture and wrote me right away.

“Hey there! I saw your picture on the Internet and I'm looking for a girl like you!”

Was this guy some kind of nut? Could he be an ax murderer or pedophile or maybe a felon just out of prison? I was scared to meet him but he told me to meet him in the Chinese Restaurant underneath the red lantern.

I walk in cautiously. I look for a tall man with dark hair and glasses. I hold my breath. What am I getting myself into?

I walk up to a man that looks at me shyly and shakes my hand.

“Hi, I'm Conner. I'm happy to finally meet you.”

I smile, happy inside.

  1. The first encounter is always the worst and I think she is relieved that her negative thoughts may not be valid. Now, she can relax and enjoy the evening with some pleasant talk and they can get to know each other better. Wonderful story and you clearly gave the message that she was very uneasy about meeting this stranger.

    • Thank you Jessie! Yes, you got it right. She was very nervous about the first meeting -not knowing what to expect, but she was pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much!

  2. It must be fiction if both people look like their picture. πŸ˜‰ It’s definitely a risky proposition bring in Internet for anything, let alone dating. Nice story!

  3. Guess this is commonplace now. Something I know nothing about. Great subject and take on the prompt!

  4. Oh, I like this story, PJ. Having never done the online dating thing, I can only imagine the apprehension both parties feel before the eventual meet-up. You built up the woman’s tension well. I’m so glad you didn’t make him into an axe murderer! πŸ™‚

  5. I met Lynn online. Our first meeting wasn’t tense at all because we had been writing to each other and talking on the phone for about two months while she mended from a broken foot. πŸ™‚ Enjoyed your story, as always.

  6. Your title intrigued me!! Everything your wrote is so true, those would be the same thoughts running through my mind…glad you were happy inside once you met Connor!! So it wasn’t so bad after all huh? Very creative and fun read!! xo

I would love to read your thoughts...
