FFfAW – 50th Anniversary

It was our 50th wedding anniversary and my husband had promised a nice dinner at a high end restaurant. I was giddy with excitement. In all of our 50 years of marriage, we had never been to one of these five star restaurants. To be honest with you, I have always felt they were way too expensive and our money could be better used elsewhere.

We carefully walked to our table, my husband being careful not to tangle his cane with one of the chairs.

As we sat down, a beautiful cake with 50 candles was brought to our table followed by our children singing our wedding song.

My eyes filled with tears and they handed us our cake and wished us a Happy 50th Anniversary.

Our dinner was marvelous and it was a night I won't forget. At least, as long as my short term memory lets me remember.

Thank you Graham for our photo prompt this week!

  1. Very lovely PJ. A perfect place to host a 50th Weddimg Anniversary Dinner. Sounds like it was delightful and memmorable (as much as possible). 50 years is a long time and real achievement. Says a lot about the couple having put up with each other that long. I hope my parents make it there πŸ™‚ Great job PJ. Hope things are going well for you. πŸ’•

    • Hi Mandi! Nice to hear from you! Yes, 50 years is quite an accomplishment! I truly hope your parents make it too! πŸ™‚ I’m doing well. I accidentally chopped off the tip of my finger chopping vegetables. LOL! It isn’t easy for me to type.

      • Oh I was wondering what happened. I thought you may have been taking a longer break. Sorry about your finger, did you get it sewn back on? My friends Dad did that when we were young And showed us his thumb. Praying you heal fast and don’t worry about not being able to respond as much, stuff happens. Feel better πŸ’πŸ™πŸ»

        • Thank you, Mandi. I went to the ER but they didn’t put stitches in it (which surprised me). They put a sterile butterfly bandage on it which was suppose to last 8 days. Ha! It fell off before 24 hours had passed. So, I have it bandaged myself. My break ended up being extended due to some things I had to get done around here, then the accident with my finger.

  2. I love the mention of the cane. And the short term memory mention. Problem is, I already suffer from that. So does Lynn, come to think of it.

  3. This is such a sweet, romantic story! And, a wonderful way to celebrate 50 years of marriage…in a 5 star restaurant, your children there helping you celebrate and singing your wedding song πŸ™‚ and a cake. Beautiful memories…hopefully they will be remembered for life.
I’m so sorry that you are having problems with your finger and hope it heals soon. I know how frustrating it can be to type when you have a problem with your finger. Take care.

  4. Ouch. Sorry about your injury Pj (saw it on your reply to Mandi’s comment), I hope it’s stopped hurting much and is healing well.
And this was such a wonderful story, too sweet.

  5. What a beautiful story!!! I love this…and I’m happy she was treated to and thoroughly enjoyed her 5 star experience…we all deserve 5 stars!! πŸ™‚

I would love to read your thoughts...
