FFfAW – Burning Dreams

My parent's marriage was always happy until my dad decided to learn to play the guitar. He would play for hours trying to pick out a song, but according to my mom, he only made noise.

Dad was certain he was destined to become a famous musician, refusing to look for a job. As far as he was concerned, he just needed to learn to play the guitar.

One snowy day, my mom had built a nice warm fire to heat the house. My dad was very proud of her until he discovered what she was burning…

His guitar.

  1. Well, that’s a subtle way of letting him know her feelings about his guitar skills. Let’s hope dad doesn’t decide to take up the drums. Cute story!

  2. LOL….that so funny!! There are so many jokes that could go along with this like…did he know “Light my Fire”…he does now!!! Oh well, maybe he’ll take up the drums!! That could keep them warm all winter…HA

  3. Learning to play an instrument is all well and good but he really needs to earn a wage whilst he’s doing so! I’m not surprised his wife threw his guitar on the fire. Good story, PJ. πŸ™‚

  4. What a story! I think just maybe the teenager who is telling this story was a bit embarrassed that the dad was trying to ‘be cool’ as he grew older. πŸ˜‰

I would love to read your thoughts...
