FFfAW-My Friend, Buddy

Buddy Butterfly landed on my favoritest bush and I saw the ol' lizard lying in wait. Gasping, “Please don't eat him,” I secretly beg.

The mean ol' lizard slowly crept toward Buddy….Gulp!

“Oh no! He ate my friend!”

Buddy wiggled and fought and got away! Whew! A great big bite was taken from his wing, but at least he could still fly!

I fluttered my wings at the lizard and chirped at him, “BOO!” and scared that rascal lizard away.

Birds are suppose to eat butterflies, but I don't. Butterflies are my goodest friends. You don't eat your goodest friends.

  1. Fish…I mean, BUTTERFLIES are friends, not food πŸ˜€ πŸ˜› I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, you’re a master when it comes to voice! I always love your stories and the feelings I walk away with after reading them. Excellent job!

  2. Thank goodness Buddy got out of there with just a bite from his wing…Yikes!! A friend in need is a friend indeed…lucky for Buddy, Birdie liked him and not as a meal!!! Fun story.

  3. That’s such a sweet story and very nicely conveyed! A bird sparing a butterfly simply because they are friends. Whenever I see videos on strange friendships between animals I am overawed at their love for each other. As good as if not better than humans.

  4. First off I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if
you don’t mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear
your mind before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting
my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints?
    Appreciate it!

    • I’m not sure that I completely clear my mind. My stories are like finding a thread. I pick up one end and follow it to the end. In other words, my mind comes up with an idea and I start writing and let the words come as they may. I never know how it is going to end up although I do use my mind to “guide” it.

I would love to read your thoughts...
