SPF – Resting in the Rig

My home away from home is hard to park and has a closet size room with a bed, a refrigerator, a microwave, a television set and a port-a-potty. (I can sit on the potty and watch a game). It isn’t much but it gives me a chance to rest on my long hauls. I just have to find a place where I can park it all night. There are more overnight parking along highways for the 18-wheelers than there were in the past.

Tomorrow, I get up bright and early, eat a light breakfast and instant coffee and get back on the road for the east coast. I’m hauling a load of eggs. Which by the way, have you priced those things lately? It’s more like I’m hauling a load of gold. Heck, I think I’ll just cook me some of those gold eggs for breakfast.

Gotta go. Games on. (150)

  1. Love this..it brings back so many memories for me. My father drove a big rig for many , many years. He hauled all kind of things and my sister’s and I would get in the trailer and sweep it out for him in between messing around having fun being in such a huge trailer ( especially for us since we were little at the time). Later years he hauled Ford cars and trucks to numerous states. We lived just a few miles from the Ford manufacturing plant. There were no facilities in his truck, but he did have a bed in there…and he was six feet tall, so it was a bit cramped when sleeping. Yes, eggs are really priced high right now….due to so many chickens having something like a bird flu or something and it left a shortage of chickens . Thanks for this post you described it well.πŸ˜ƒ

  2. Lovely, and yes those eggs are gold! Hubby really appreciates his breakfast / or dinner a whole lot more! Only problem is when I break the yolk, makes me feel like a bad cook.
A truckers life for me! Well done.
And then I thought, oh no, not another FF challenge! LOL
I’ll have to give it a try, someday!

    • No kidding, about the eggs! I break yolks all the time. When that happens, I have scrambled eggs. LOL! This is Alistair Forbes challenge, Sunday Photo Fiction. Wait. You already know that!

  3. No joke about the price of eggs. About ten years ago we were in Maui – and even with the island overrun with roosters and chickens eggs were in demand. Couldn’t trade eggs on the breakfast menu for anything.

    Thanks for stopping by ~Jules

I would love to read your thoughts...
