FFfAW: Graveyard Ghosts

Mona was sitting on the ground with her head resting in her hands, looking and feeling forlorn.

“What's wrong, Mona? You don't look happy,” Stella asked.

“I'm missing my family. It will be years before I get to see them again.”

Stella replied softly, “Yes, it probably will be years but you can still have an enjoyable time as you wait for them.”

“That's just it. It isn't an enjoyable time hanging around this dead-beat place all the time.”

“Well,” Stella responded, “Look at it this way. Everyone is dying to come here.”

“Ha-Ha-Ha. That isn't even funny anymore.”

“Let's go to the local spooks tonight for a change. Or we could go spook a few people?”

“Geeze Stella, you're full of it tonight.”

“Have you seen the new neighbor? OOPS, I mean, the new spook?”

“Goodnight Stella, I'm going back to my bed!”

“Night night, don't let the spookies bite!”

  1. A funny story Joy. The last line fitted perfectly there. Who knows they’ll party hard once everyone reaches there (in time or not who cares). I did remember Casper the friendly ghost while reading this. πŸ™‚

  2. In a way, this is very bittersweet. Funny because of the spook jokes, but it is sad that she is separated from her family.

  3. That was really funny and a great play with on words. All the dead and dying – and even dead-beat words work very well. As for the new spooks … they sound like a really fun bunch. πŸ™‚
PJ, I’m afraid I messed up my link this week and now I can’t change it. It isn’t my usual picture and my name isn’t on it. Just thought I’d let you know – it’s the last story at the moment. I’m sorry to be so late with it this week.

          • Oh! Tobacco came in a can and you would dip your fingers in, grab a pinch and tuck it between your cheek and gum πŸ˜€ saw my grandpa do that many a times

          • From what I remember of my grandfather, he just left it in his mouth like that, as the juices would be produced, he would spit them out… but some may have chewed it.. I know some of the plugs and twists that were available were quite hard and had to be chewed at first

          • I come from a long line of dippers and smokers… both my dad and brother smoke here and the whole house and everything I own smells like smoke ….if I smoke, it’s maybe one a night on the front porch… I used to be a 2 pack a day smoker

          • That’s amazing that you use to smoke 2 packs a day and now you only smoke 1 cigarette a day. I couldn’t do that. I was a 3 pack a day smoker. If I smoked a cigarette now, I would be a 3+ pack a day smoker. I don’t dare touch a cigarette.

          • It’s really hard living with two heavy smokers.. I get that urge, but usually just at night, so I allow myself that one cigarette.. then I go brush my teeth! LOL I worried that i would start smoking a lot too, but it’s been 7 months with only the one, so I think I am out of the woods (I hope!)

          • It sounds like you are out of the woods! I would so much love to be able to just smoke 1 cigarette a day, but I know if I smoked one, then I would be smoking 3 or more packs a day. It’s too damn hard to quit and I don’t want to have to go through that again. lol

          • I completely understand.. I tried to quit for years.. then one day I got patches, used them for 3 weeks, threw them away and just stopped… managed 3 years until I moved back home and then only lasted 3 months before the urge for one was too much to resist… lol

          • It would be for me too! Just thinking about them makes me want to smoke again but then my health and the cost of the darn things tell me, “NO!” haha!

          • Oh god hun.. don’t even start again! That price is unreal. I buy one pack about twice a month and that is enough to shake my coffers!

          • They smoke the cheapest thing or roll their own… I rolled my own for years ..it was the only way I could afford 2 packs a day

I would love to read your thoughts...
